I got this frame in 2006 when one of our neighbours tossed it in the trash during the spring clean up of the garages of our appartment building. According to the neighbour there was something wrong with the gear shifting and yes, admittedly, the chain wasn't on the cogs! So I put the chain back on and oiled the cogs and of I went.
This is the bike in the setup I found it in. As the bike worked and my skills in bike repair were close to zero back then, I just started riding it straight away. The brakes were a tad crappy, but what'cha gonna do?
This also became my primary bike for three years or so, since until then I had ridden only with heavy older bikes and was amazed how little it weighed and how fast you could go. I even made small tour in Estonia with this and never had any major problems with it.
In the photo the bike is celebrating Helsinki Pride (2006?) with me - thus the balloons.
In 2010 I converted this into my first fixed gear, just changed the bottom bracket and the rear wheel. However, a bit later I decided to take the whole thing apart, repaint it and clean it properly.

Picked this up on CList today, Specialized Rockhopper or Stumpjumper, not sure which, converted to a fixed gear. Hadn't ridden a mountain bike in forever, forgot how well they handle adverse road conditions. Will have fun with this one!
